Eighth Grade Graduation Slated for May Fourteenth at City Auditorium
Eighth grade graduation exercises will be held at the city auditorium on Tuesday May 14 at 230 o clock. County Superintendent Edith Oldershaw announces the program is open to the public about 170 graduates will receive diplomas. The program includes district sections with music readings solos duets and choruses featuring students from District 69S District 19 and other schools. The Telegraph will publish the roster of graduates tomorrow.

Warren Wood Named Guard Head for 134th Regiment

Rev Lucas Arrives to Lead Christ Church Mission
The Rev Marcus M Lucas has arrived in Alliance to become rector of St Matthew's Episcopal Church and will oversee Christ Church mission in Sidney until a permanent pastor is assigned. He led a communion service in Sidney last evening and will direct Thursday services. Previously, he served Beloit Kansas and studied at a Tennessee seminary after graduating from Augustana College Conservatory of Music in Rocky Island Illinois. He was ordained in 1942.

Funeral services were held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church Lodgepole for Edward A. Markel Sr. 67 who died suddenly at his Lodgepole home Monday. Msgr. Anton Link officiated high mass. Interment by Gehrig Funeral Home. Survivors include wife Ladye Roselius eight children and eleven grandchildren. Markel was born August 16 1878 in Nebraska City and moved to Cheyenne County in 1928 to farm north of Lodgepole. He retired from farming in 1945.
