Pioneer Louis Wasem dies at 86 in Sidney hospital
Louis Wasem, a Cheyenne County pioneer who arrived in 1885 and helped build Gurley area, died Thursday at 86 after a heart attack. Services were Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, burial Greenwood Cemetery. Survived by widow Verna Underwood, a step-brother in St Louis, nieces and nephews. He served as Cheyenne County treasurer 1933 to 1943 and worked as bookkeeper for Cheyenne County Trading Company.
