A blaze at the Tobin opera house in Sidney started by a discarded lighted item damaged interior woodwork and scenery. Fire crews and five boys with help from citizens kept the flames under control. the M. H. Tobin property carries insurance and the prior bazar booths had been removed.

Local E. V. Sumner No. 12 G A R members met to organize Memorial Day events. Committees were named for ball arrangements graves marking and speeches. Program includes May 30 services at M E Church, May 31 parade from Odd Fellows ball to cemeteries, then opera house program with Hon E McLernon as speaker. Confederates and all veterans urged to join parade.
A broad invitation calls all villagers and rural residents to observe Decoration Day with a parade and exercises. Leaders are asked to report to Commander J C Hudson to coordinate arrangements and avoid confusion on the day. In Lodgepole a fatal fire tragedy claims 15 year old Lillie Mica after a wind driven blaze spreads to her aid. The funeral was led by Father Feney of Sidney with interment at Bohemian Catholic cemetery south of Lodgepole.
Frank Welch Lodge No. 75, A. B F. & A. M., elected officers Tuesday evening. Chas Callahan was master, H. Schroeder senior warden, J. Richerson junior warden, L. F. Cleaman treasurer, Leslie Neubauer secretary.
