Tarnish Removal for Silverware Using Aluminum Electrolysis
To clean tarnished silverware, place pieces in an aluminum pan and add water to cover. Sprinkle equal parts salt and soda, using one tablespoonful per quart of water. Pour boiling water over the silverware until fully covered. If tarnish is heavy, heat the pan on the stove for three to five minutes to draw tarnish to the aluminum, then remove, wash, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth. Clean the pan by cooking sour fruit such as rhubarb in it.
