Sidney high school and Scottsbluff shared the top first place total as 19 schools competed at the Western District Music contest in Sidney. Contests covered contralto, duets, glee clubs, chorus, piano and violin solos, cornet, soprano and tenor solos, plus band. Sidney earned two firsts in contralto solo and duet, plus wins in Girls and Boys Glee and chorus, while Scottsbluff took piano solo and tenor solo, with Chadron Teachers and Gering also scoring high.

Farmer’s Mind Affected After Hog Attack
John Kirchner a farmer eighteen miles southwest of here is in a serious condition with a mental affliction from injuries after a hog attack on his farm weeks ago. A 60 year old Mount Hope area resident, he hallucinates that he has lost his soul and refuses comfort or conversation. He will likely be sent to a sanitarium for treatment.

Sidney Boy Scouts Outing In Sidney This Week
One hundred twenty six boys participated in scout activities in Sidney during the past week. Fifty one joined the first encampment of the year held on Friday and Saturday on Jordan's ranch west of town under Rev J J Crawford acting scout master. Activities included fishing baseball swimming hiking and horseback riding. Twenty eight junior scouts visited the camp on Saturday. The group thanks W W Jordan for permission to camp on his ranch.

Braulio Russ Sentenced for Theft in Lemoyne Case
Braulio Russ, arrested two weeks ago by Sheriff Jump and charged with stealing a large sum from another Mexican laborer at Lemoyne, was sent to Sidney by the sheriff County Attorney Maupin and Judge Tewell in chambers and sentenced to one to three years in the penitentiary.

Golden Wedding Celebrated Monday By Popular Couple
Karl and Marie Sethaler Ruttner celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Cheyenne county. The couple, among the county’s best known residents, married in Prosmus Austria on May 2, 1877, and moved to America in 1885. They later settled near Sunol and then Sidney, retiring in 1916 and living in Sidney. The Golden Day was marked at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with a ring blessing ceremony led by Rev. Father Tink and a grandchild’s organ performance. Their long life together was celebrated by relatives, friends, and their family.
