Driver Narrowly Escapes Death In Potter Train Collision
Dr. A B Kyle a Bayard veterinarian narrowly escaped death when a freight train demolished his car at the Potter main crossing. Ralph Robertson warned Kyle as the train bore down and helped him leap free before impact. Kyle a Sioux City Iowa resident was in Potter to vaccinate cattle and was racing to free the car when the crash occurred. State Patrolman Hailey will file the official report after reviewing tracks and timing.

Beatrice Car Crash Ends Life of Spindler Father of Sidney People
C L Spindler 65 father of Mrs H C Craig Leland Spindler and Howard Spindler died of a heart attack while driving slowly on a downtown Beatrice street. His car bumped two others, he was unconscious when bystanders helped, Dr Rathbun declared him dead. He came to Chappell in 1915 to run a mercantile business. his wife died in 1935. Funeral at 2 pm Friday at Chappell Methodist Church with Revs Clark and Jewett officiating.

Frank lin Hornaday to Sing in Sidney High School Concert
The renowned tenor Frank lin Hornaday will perform at Sidney High School auditorium next Monday evening April 1 at eight. Sponsored by the Women's Society of Christian Service of The Methodist Church, only eight hundred tickets will be sold. Hornaday, a veteran concert and opera singer, is vacationing with his parents in Sidney before a busy summer schedule including The Student Prince Bohemian Girl Country of Luxembourg and Blossom Time. He plans to return to New York City in about a month to prepare for future engagements.

SOD Employs Record Crew at Bionx Ordnance Depot
Col. H. J. Preble announced a massive recruitment drive at the Ordnance Depot backed by strong publicity. From March 18 to 25 the depot recruited 140 people and received about 60 applications. Maximum hiring needs were 361 to support a new program of roughly 100,000 man days. A Denver recruiting party worked with USES, and letters of inquiry came from across the United States.

The Sidney Business and Professional Women’s Club held its regular meeting with guest speaker Mrs. Garnett Radin. A Navy Nurse Corps veteran, she served six months on Guam and earlier as a reserve officer called to active duty in June 1942. She described postings at Norfolk and Camp Peary and was discharged after Guam duty in June 1945. Clinton Is Speaker At Lions Club Meeting

Keith Schwartz and Byron Johns Jr propose changing Aeronca slogan to The Plane That Flies Itself after demonstrating a 1946 model in Cheyenne County. The trip from Sidney showed easy handling during an 1100 mile journey, with the plane landing after three hours airborne and minor damage under $400.
