Dr G Bruce Bartels director of placement at Chadron State College says the 1965 annual report shows 7747 requests for teachers. Nebraska officials made the most requests, over a quarter of the total. Sixteen states sent more than 100 requests. Registrants taught in 23 states and Canada. 59.5 percent were placed in Nebraska. Wyoming and South Dakota followed in share, with Colorado and California also employing CSC students. Many graduates took first jobs outside Nebraska due to higher salaries and salary gaps were larger at the elementary level.
