General McArthur and aides traveled on a Chicago & Northwestern special car en route to the Pacific coast. Andy Burg observed waterworks tied to Union Pacific. Lincoln Journal says Union Pacific contracts Chicago firm for twenty five water purification plants from Omaha to Salt Lake City, costing at least 1.5 million dollars, with work to start immediately. Officials say purified water will lengthen locomotive life significantly.

Local merchant sold out retirements in Sidney

E McLernon longtime Sidney merchant sold his entire stock to Simon Fishman and plans to retire from mercantile business though remaining a resident of Sidney. Fishman, a few months in town, is a thrifty capable veteran in general dry goods trade joining with McLernon to form a large stock for western Nebraska. The Telegram commends Fishman and wishes him success.
