Winter wheat near normal in state as Nebraska banks report
Nebraska bankers midmonth report shows winter wheat at 95 percent condition, up four points from last month, with the crop improved by heavy snow. Statewide good conditions, especially in the western district, ample moisture, and excellent soil for spring seeding. Land rental demand unusually high for share rents, while cash rents rise in sandhills and southwest. Farm indebtedness down about five percent, signaling slower buying and debt reduction amid higher prices for some commodities.

Charles Deaver, Colton grain dealer, told Denver Lions he fears the federal farm board and government price fixing have driven wheat prices to their lowest since 1895. He cited antiquated price manipulation from ancient to modern times and warned of no relief for farmers with a 300 million bushel surplus. If Republicans gain control in the 72nd Congress, Robert G.
