Sidney Harriers Open Season at Kimball Invitational
Sidney High School opens the track season with the Kimball Invitational as coach Dick Osterday notes about 150 boys in the program and returning lettermen Rick Seidel Randy Lubash Jim Thayer Scott Cornelius Delbert Davison Lawrence Humphrey Larry OHalloran plus sophomores Rick Kuhns Jay Matzke. Nine meets plus state competition are planned for the SHS team with JV to run four meets. Coaches for varsity Osterday Welch Roach and frosh Yahn Garrett.

Forty Girls Begin Track Team Season at SHS
Forty girls participate in SHS track entering the 1973 season with three junior returnees Ann Elwell Cindy Buecker and Barb Walker and sophomores Janie Wait Sue Mattoon and Sue Holling who advanced to state last year. Practice runs daily from 3:45 p.m. with sessions at 4:00 p.m. A SHS Honor Society pizza party is set for Monday March 2 at 6 30 p.m. in the senior high cafeteria.

Drivers Education Starts at Sidney High School
Sidney High School and St Patricks Academy offer a 30 hour classroom course plus about six hours of driving for qualified students. Ten three hour classes run May 23 to June 13 at 8 to 11 a.m. on varying days. Enrollment limited to Sidney High School or St Patrick students.

B ballers fall in state final at Sidney
In the 63rd Annual State Championship Sidney Raiders lose to Holdrege in a 60 4 final. Rick Seidel scores 35 for Sidney with 27 field goals and 10 21 at the line while Aquinas finishes 24 field goals and 7 11 free throws. Seidel fouls out with 11 seconds left as Siegel seals victory for Holdrege.
