Two Cheyenne fields lead county oil production in 1957

Doran and Dorman fields in Cheyenne County posted nearly identical 1957 outputs 337901 and 336004 barrels while Dorman leads cumulative totals at 2693438 versus 1685153 for Doran. Cheyenne total 4841135 barrels, Kimball County tops with over 10 million. Nebraska gas output exceeds 15 billion cubic feet.

Nelson to Head United Fund Drive at Luncheon

Dr H C Q Nelson was elected general chairman for the United Fund drive to be held next fall at a luncheon meeting of board members yesterday. J R Miller was named co chair in charge of the employee employer portion. Mrs Harold Tremain was appointed publicity chairman. Don Jorgenson, treasurer, will distribute 75 percent of funds to participating organizations including Girl and Boy Scouts Red Cross Civil Air Patrol Cadets Salvation Army and King’s Daughters.

Dewey Larson Files For Commissioner Post

Potter farmer George D. Larson known as Dewey Larson filed today with the County Clerk as a Republican candidate for County Commissioner from the third district. The filing is for the seat currently held by George Coulter of Potter. Donald Theis filed last week.

Chief Sol Willis of the Sidney police department says post office patrons will gain parking relief soon with ten new 12 minute meters on the half block of Sth avenue west of the post office. He notes current double parking near the courtesy box is illegal and will stop once meters arrive and are installed.

Carl Christ Co. Low Bidder On Kimball School

Carl W. Christ Construction Co of Sidney was the low bidder for a Kimball school building addition, awarded an 872,299 contract by the Kimball Board of Education. Bond proceeds will finance the project, with 827,000 of 8120,000 bonds to be sold after dual elections. Construction aims to begin promptly and finish by September to provide extra classrooms for Mary Lynch school area.

General Hinrichs Named Chief of Ordnance
