The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners held sessions on March 15 and 16 1892 with present commissioners Van derhoof Frame and McAleese and clerk McMullan. They approved and rejected petitions, ordered transfers to bridge and special funds, authorized road and bridge work, and issued notices for assessor vacancies and inmate placements. A death notice for Abraham Lamb and a GAR tribute followed, plus local society items and Army statistics and travel notices.
The county board of assessors met at 2:00 pm to elect L R Bartow as chairman and James O'Kape as secretary. They approved one third as the basis of assessment, fixed land values from 390 to 1500 per acre, and set livestock values including horses, cattle, and sheep. The session adjourned with blank forms to be completed, and a note of cautious optimism about tax returns.
