Snell Returned By Sheriff After Kansas City Stay
Glenn Snell, charged in two complaints with removing mortgaged property and personal property, was returned to Sidney Tuesday night by Sheriff William Schulz after being arrested in Kansas City where he had settled. An ongoing relief application there led to local contact. Kansas City police held him until Schulz arrived. The case involves a truck mortgaged to The First State Bank of Lodge Pole and a radio under a conditional sales contract with Hepner Radio Company. Values not stated.

Kittrell sentenced in income tax evasion case
John D. Kittrell, 40, of Denver, was sentenced by Judge J. Foster Symes to eight years in federal prison and fined $5,000 for income tax evasion. Convicted on three counts, he faced separate four year terms for counts one and two to run consecutively, and one year concurrent on count three. He allegedly earned large income from Paramount company stock sales and led the Paramount Life company in Sidney.

William J. Smith aged 87, a former Sidney resident and Civil War veteran, died at his daughter's home two miles east of Pine Bluffs after years of illness. Born in Virginia, he fought for the Confederacy, married Emma Houston in 1875, and moved to Nebraska in 1885. He later worked in harness making in Sidney before aging made him retire.
