Major Downey Retired After Civil War Service
Major Geo M Downey of K company 21st Infantry at Fort Sidney has been placed on the retired list due to disability after months waiting for retirement. He plans to move to Laramie then Denver with his family. Gen Henry A Morrow writes a valedictory letter praising Downey’s service in eight Civil War battles and campaigns against Apache and Bannock Indians.
