Farmers gain disaster protection in 1966 grain programs
Ray mond L. Davis, ASC chairman in Cheyenne County, says wheat and feed grain diversion plan participants have disaster insurance. Last year floods and drought prompted special legislation for those affected. similar provisions exist in the 1965 Food and Agriculture Act. Farmers may qualify for price support payments and wheat certificates if a special ASC county-filed application shows disaster prevented planting. acreage later used for other income crops in 1966 does not qualify. Payments are based on unplanted acreage yields, ensuring income despite disasters.
