Minnesota Man Hired As Golf Pro By City Council
City Manager Tom Coffey announced that Donald S. MacRae of Morris Minnesota has been hired as golf professional and manager of the municipal course. MacRae will oversee irrigation installation operate the pro shop teach golf and develop programs for adults and juniors. He was chosen from 24 applicants after an interview in Sidney and brings long golf experience including work with his late father Jack MacRae and a Morris course program for juniors and University of Minnesota Morris golf instruction.

Sidney Jaycees under Ned Swaeby will sponsor a local Soap Box Derby with Kokjer Motor Co Radio Station KSD American National Bank and The Telegraph as supporters. A film The Long Happy Race will be shown February 27 at 3 p.m. in the Junior High auditorium to inform entries. Boys ages 11 to 15 may enter by registering at Kokjer Motor Co with a parent or guardian where a rule book is given. The June 23 race awards a $500 savings bond a trophy and the chance to race in Akron Ohio on August 3 for $100000 in college scholarships and savings bonds
