Four oil rigs were active across Cheyenne County with two on field locations and two wildcat ventures. Notable wells include Mather No 1, Fisher No 1, Sorge No 1, Thompson No 2, and McLernon No 4 as Ohio Oil and others pursue discoveries near Sidney and the Sioux Ordnance Depot. In Banner and Kimball counties several discoveries and dry holes are reported, including J. G. Johnson No 1 and Meredith No 1 with significant oil shows, plus Vowers Bros No 19 and No 22 producing smaller saturations.

William P. Bergner, 59, Dies in Cheyenne County Hospital
William Paul Bergner, 59, of Sidney died early this morning at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after several months of illness. He owned Bergner Machine Shop since 1928, later moving to 828 Ninth Ave in 1945. Funeral Monday at First Christian Church with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include wife Ellen, daughter Ona Carmichale, sons Kenneth Edward Lyle, two sisters and a brother.
