The Sidney Home Guard is fast becoming an efficient unit with a drill held at the high school gymnasium drawing over thirty participants. Current enrollment stands at 115 with optimism for more to join as uniforms are ordered and the drill squad improves under Sergeant Raymond Clinton who recently returned from service.
The Brewer garage has changed management but will still operate under Brewers Garage. Sam and C. C. Perry have leased the garage and Harry Brewer has leased the machine shop. The new lessees are experienced, and the Brewer family will remain in the city with their apartments above the garage. Sidney teems with life and opportunity as new families arrive, while old families are welcome to stay. One National Cash Register is for sale at Osborn Garage. Geo. E. Cheyenne County closes March first land deals as brokers, ab stractors, and banks swarm the offices. County Clerk and Probate Judge handle instruments and transcripts while a buyer waits. Over three million dollars in land settlements expected. few contracts broken due to funding issues back east. Agriculture prospects brighten daily, investors view Cheyenne land as superior to gold or oil stock.
A warm snow Wednesday and night soaked the ground, enabling fine winter wheat growth and superb plowing conditions. The outlook favors a major agricultural triumph, urging all county residents to grow, save, and prioritize food for allies. Nature has aided the region and now the effort is ours to command.

Clarence Wright departed last Thursday night to resume duties at Fort Logan where he serves in the Recruit Band. He is expected to be transferred soon. He enlisted voluntarily and remains eager in service. He enjoyed a brief furlough at home.
Sam Fine will spend two weeks away visiting friends in Oklahoma before heading to major wholesale markets to buy smart toys for his Toggen Shop.
Professor Lewis was empowered as truant officer and took Harold Hornaday home to Sterling Colorado after four weeks away from home and school. Harold seems glad to be among home comforts and the vacation may improve his appreciation of his advantages.
Sidney’s Tobin Opera House hosted a public school musical and operetta led by Prof. Lewis with Evelyn Doran at the piano. The high school chorus impressed, and younger pupils staged Betsy Ross or the Origin of Our Flag with Naomi Fishman in the lead. A military drill by fourth and fifth graders preceded the operetta.
