Sidney Junior Legion Wins 5-2 Behind Solano Home Run
Charlie Solano belted a 380 foot homer in the fifth to spark Sidney to a 5-2 Panhandle Legion League win over Morrill at Legion Park. Solano, also the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts, improved to 4-1, while Morrill drops to 0-5. Dan Daugherty opened scoring for Morrill, and Sidneys Rick Schmidt added an RBI in the sixth while Rex Adams scored on a Schmidt hit.

A two day girls softball tournament at Kiwanis Field Legion Park in Sidney features 14 games with a possible 15th in a double elimination format. Teams include Potter Powers The Mill Sidney Fix Pharmacy Bridgeport Teenies and others with admission 75 cents per session or 2 dollars for a full tournament pass. The winner advances to the state meet in Grand Island July 3 to 6.
