Trains 5 6 Get Year s Reprieve From ICC Order

The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered Union Pacific to continue passenger trains 5 and 6 between Omaha Nebraska and Los Angeles for one year. The line sought to discontinue June 26 due to loss of mail traffic but the ICC found no experience showing the service would lack traveler appeal and noted the trains had operated profitably after mail service ended last October.
