Nebraska Gas Tax Revenue Hits Record in May
Gas tax collections in Nebraska rose to a record 7.828 million dollars in May, driven by an 82 cent per gallon state tax on gasoline plus other fuels. The gain over last year reflects higher highway use, with Interstate 80 traffic counts up across several segments and a year to date traffic increase of about 9 to 10 percent.

Farm Population Rises Slightly But Not Significantly
The 1972 farm population estimate stands at 9.61 million, up 185000 from 1971, yet officials caution the gain likely reflects sampling error and does not alter the long term downward trend. The report notes more men than women on farms, few youths, and minorities at 9 percent.
