Feeding Cattle and Hogs Guidance From UN Extension Economist

Everett E. Peterson of the University of Nebraska Extension advises marketing finished cattle promptly as price gains do not justify heavier weights. He expects feeder cattle prices to fall through summer with weather in the western ranges guiding declines, while hogs should be sold at heavier weights in the next two months. Corn and grain sorghum are seen rising about five cents a bushel by late August prompting hold on high quality grain and early sale of grain that may deteriorate in heat.
