Bonds Sold for Cheyenne County Court House and Jail

Cheyenne County Nebraska officials conduct the official sale of 50000 bonds for a court house and jail. Cutter May & Company of Chicago bid the highest and best terms, offering 5 percent interest, par with a 255 premium, delivery within thirty days, and payment of attorney fees. The board approves the bid and authorizes the clerk to notify the bidder, with further steps to finalize the purchase and provide a certified history of proceedings.

W C McKeown and H J Roth passed through Sidney on No 4 en route from Cheyenne to Omaha. Eri L Foster spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Cheyenne on business. John McFadden handled office work during the absence. J Fred Dawson promoted to General Inspector of U P hotels was in Sidney inspecting the Pacific hotel. Operator Kelley from Durham arrived and started as third trick operator. Jess Thomas left for a new position in North Platte. Machinist D J Lynch spending a few days vacation in Denver and Colorado Springs and plans to visit Mississippi. A new 700 type passenger engine passed through Sidney en route west, larger than the 500 class. Thomas W Blome checked in as U P baggage agent to succeed Logan who becomes cashier for the Cheyenne express company. Blome will move his family here in a couple of weeks.

Visiters Report Fine Rain During Sidney Trip

Herman Miller and son of Union Valley visited Sidney yesterday and reported a fine rain in their country Thursday night. Everything is growing fine. A birthday party was given at the Lowe home Friday afternoon in honor of Billy Lowe with many children attending. Mrs. Jewett and Miss Mead of Lodgepole left Thursday for Denver. Miss Mead will take the nurses' course at St Luke's Hospital. A. B. Persinger was up from his ranch Thursday.

Joneses Return From Portland Rose Festival Visit

Mr and Mrs A B Jones returned Wednesday from a trip to Portland to visit their son and daughter. They attended the Festival of Roses with a floral parade and a rose exhibit in the Armory featuring many varieties and colors.
