Death of Joseph Sharmer in Sidney Nebraska
Joseph Sharmer, 69, died Tuesday afternoon after a yearlong battle with stomach cancer. Born in Germany in 1829, he arrived in America in 1847 and pursued mining, stock raising, and business across several states before settling in Sidney in 1874. He helped found the Sidney Exchange Bank in 1881 and co-owned J Sutherland & Co grocery. He married Katherine O Connor in 1884 and leaves four children Laura Katherine Josephine and Joseph. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church with a Requiem Mass and burial at the cemetery.

Her death brings sorrow to a brother and sister and her relatives.
