Police report a Tuesday night burglary at the Methodist Church office at 2622 Eleventh. Five dollars was taken from a cash drawer and two rolls of stamps valued at five dollars each. Entry appears to have been gained with a flat-bladed knife on the office door.

Search For Pope Shifts To Florida
The search for Duane Pope, accused of slaying three employees in a Big Springs bank robbery last Friday, shifted to Florida Thursday. A young hitchhiker answering Pope's description was reportedly dropped off near Yeehaw Junction on the Sunshine State Parkway. The motorist later decided his passenger resembled Pope and notified Tampa police. Three persons claimed to have seen a man fitting Pope's description in Missouri on Wednesday while FBI agents in Wichita, Kansas, investigated other reports of residents there claiming to have seen Pope. In Washington, the FBI said Pope has not been placed on the agency's most wanted list but said he was certainly a leading contender the next time there is a vacancy.

Fleming Backs Income Tax But Prefers Sales Tax
Nebraska senator George H. Fleming of Sidney backs LB797 income tax but still favors a sales tax to broaden the tax base. He notes a Gerdes sales tax proposal may gain traction regardless of LB797’s fate and says a combined sales income tax could be possible. Fleming expects LB797 to pass and sees a ballot push by Carpenter in 1966, with LB797 taking effect January 1, 1967. Aaron O. Nelson, a native of Boody Indiana, has been named scout executive for the Tinta Tonka District Boy Scouts. He served in the army 1953 to 1956, studied at the University of Denver, and worked for Martin Company before joining the scouts. Eleven Teams Enter Fire Department Tournament in Sidney
Eleven teams from Nebraska and Colorado are expected for the Interstate Volunteer Firemen's Association tournament to be held in Sidney on June 20.
