Elks Lodge Dedication Held Here Sunday

Robert Bennett of Omaha holds the state record for fresh water drum with a 23 pound scraper landed at Carter Lake on June 10 1963. Only one frame house stood in Kearney County in 1876 two miles east of present Axtell. Saddles used by Pony Express riders in 1860 were made by a Lincoln firm which also crafted Buffalo Bill Cody’s saddle for his Wild West shows.
