Lightning Strikes Sharmer House and Tramp Fortunes
The Sidney Telegraph reports a severe storm last Saturday in which lightning struck Joseph Sharmer’s Second Street residence, melting the roof spouting and rod, starting a small fire that was fought off by a hose. Four bolts struck the building and the Sharmer family was only slightly injured. Separately a tramp named Thomas Corbett was struck dead near the coal shed, with two companions knocked down but saved. A social event is described at Camp Clarke Neb with dancing, a large guest list, and a charity bazaar planned by the Saddles’ Guild, including a campus report from Shiney pallte school.
