One Month Remains To File For Offices
Prospective timber for state or county offices this year still have a little more than a month in which to file as candidates at the August 14 primaries and get under the closing wire. The law provides that candidates for office must make their filings 40 days before the primaries. That will mean that closing date this year will be on July 5, accord ing to County Clerk Henry Paviat. All over the country there is reported a considerably larger than usual list of candidates for all of fices on ballots, from top to bottom. That condition is not particularly marked here. A check of the re cords shows that as many candidates had filed for the primaries four years ago as now, and just as early.

Grain Standards Readied for Change by Agriculture Bureau
The Agriculture Bureau will implement revised grain standards in stages starting July 2 for wheat barley oats mixed feed oats feed oats and rye with updated grades for mixed grain. Lions Club Awards Made For Students At Sidney High
The Sidney Lions club presented its final meritorious work in vocational agriculture award for the year a future farmer medal with a public speakers panel to Stanley Elsen a junior in voag. Other awards went to Vern Sharman Gerald Hughes and Frederick Berggren for farm practice and diversified farming programs. The club hosted winners Harold Witters Robert Rexroth and Udell Ward from the state dairy cattle judging team at North Platte this spring.

Annual Scout And Campfire Drive For Finances To Be Made Today
A drive to secure finances for Boy Scout work in Sidney during the coming year will be staged today, announced by the scout executive committee. Honor Soldier Dead Wednesday The American Legion held Memorial Day in Sidney with a town and national observance. Legionnaires marched to the cemetery for brief services under a sweltering sun then gathered at the auditorium for a program led by Attorney S. E. Torgeson of Kimball. Finds Coins Evidence of Early Habitation
Mickey Green son of Senator and Mrs. C D Green located an old camping ground of soldiers along Lodge Pole creek west of Sidney and found two coins dated in the 1860s proving white men inhabited the area before Sidney existed.
