Palmer T Thurston dies longtime Potter resident
Palmer T Thurston died Thursday morning in Miller Memorial Hospital Chappell at age 83 after driving himself in ill health. Funeral set for Monday July 26 at 10 a.m. First Evangelical Church Potter with burial in Potter Cemetery. He was born May 2 1894 in Potter to Nels and Benthine Petersen Thors tensen and lived on a local farm. He married Nellie Gilliam in 1918 in Sidney. she died about eight years ago. In 1957 he married Pearl Wilkinson and lived in Chappell until his death. Surviving: Pearl wife daughter Virginia Smith Moses Lake Wash son Clifton Potter four grandchildren. Memorial for First Evangelical Lutheran Church Potter established.

A 1964 John Deere combine driven by Keith Hruska, 20, rolled onto its side when a 1960 gas transport passed it on a narrow county road five and a half miles south and three and a half miles east of Sidney at 1 p.m. No contact occurred and no injuries were reported to Hruska or the gas truck driver, R. E. Baker, 46, of Gering.
