Family Farm term questioned by Kreader in Western Nebraska
Nebraska farmer and Wheat Growers executive secretary C H Mannie Kreader says the term family farm is misleading, estimating a western farm needs about 500 acres to be viable and 300 to 400 acres in the east. He cites costs, taxes, REA bills, depreciation, and land competition as factors shaping the traditional family farm.

Small Town Air Service May Get Boost From Studies Being Made
The Civil Aeronautics Board plans a large scale probe of the use it or lose it policy as applied to small towns like Sidney Nebraska. CAB member Alan Boyd says service may be required to continue where traffic development efforts and adequate service were made, even if five passengers per day is not met. Frontier Air Lines serves Sidney and aims to boost traffic with excursion fares and active local sales while seeking to keep the southern Nebraska route. If carriers fail to provide adequate service the CAB may revise rules to force continuation of service despite non profitability.
