The ity council met July 14 in an adjourned special meeting. Mayor McIntosh and councilmen voted on saloon licenses for J J Den and Albert Benish. Den’s bond with Southern Surety Co. approved. Heroic Courage Of Unfortunate Girl At Hotel National
A well dressed young woman registered at the Hotel National on Friday and left Monday morning after a hotel room disturbance. A chambermaid found a bundle marked please burn this containing a five month fetus. The woman, registered as from Pullman Nebraska but not at home there, fainted at Vienna and fled east by train 18. Sheriff McDaniel traced her to a town where she was found to be a schoolteacher and church worker. She paid the hotel and maid expenses to avoid charges. no criminal case was filed.
