The piece predicts a magnificent Nebraska corn crop in 1880 with praise for corn prospects and cautions against eastern doubters. It contrasts weak wheat in Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois and recalls a humorous anecdote about a Teuton’s hog and blood pudding, followed by a critique of sensational personal injury submissions to local papers.
