Fourth Operation For Jacobs Infant Today
DeAnna Lynn Jacobs, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Jerry Jacobs longtime Chadron State College summer students, was scheduled for a fourth operation at Children’s Hospital in Denver this afternoon to connect her system. Born May 12 with an incomplete esophagus and an abnormal windpipe connection, she weighed 3 pounds at birth and spent 40 days on a respirator. Her weight has risen to 5 pounds 4 ounces after the third operation despite continuing medical costs potentially surpassing 30 thousand dollars. Chadron banks have funded the effort, with Sidney Telegraph coordinating donations from readers. the Jacobs are former Cheyenne County residents with many relatives in the area.

Reimers Rites Held in Dalton Church Service Ends Life
Funeral rites for Howard Reimers 53 were held Monday at the Dalton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Richard Brown. Burial followed in Dalton Cemetery. Arthur F Groppe 72 longtime Sidney resident died early Monday at Memorial Hospital after a two day stay. Services set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev Lester Boehm officiating and burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Craig-Holeciek Funeral Home. Memorials to St Pauls Church or This Is The Life program. He was born December 7, 1879 in Kiel Missouri and lived in Washington Missouri before moving to Dodge County Nebraska in 1917 then Lyons and a farm near Sidney before settling in town in 1935. Surviving are his widow three daughters Jean Aurich of Potter Jeanette Geller of Dalton and Ardis Gordon of Denver 10 grandchildren one sister Erna Groppe of St Louis and one brother Carl of Scribner. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Cycle crash in Gurley injures no one Sunday
A motorcycle and a pickup collided on Highway 385 in Gurley Sunday afternoon causing about 250 dollars in total damage. The 1970 Honda bike driven by Clayton M. Troutt, 55, Maplewood Missouri, and a 1969 Chevrolet pickup driven by Marva S. Cranwell, 24, Richmond Kansas, were the involved vehicles. The cycle was westbound when it pulled onto the highway and struck the pickup on its right side. Front-end damage to the cycle was about 1000 dollars and 150 dollars to the pickup.
