Court Rules Release On Beet Grower Contract

The Colorado supreme court, in a four to three decision, upheld Charlies T. Munroe's right to contract his beet crop with Great Western Sugar despite no direct contract between the company and Mountain States Beet Growers' association. The court held the association's refusal to accept the 1928 contract automatically released Munroe from the group agreement, allowing an individual contract. The case arose from a deadlock between growers and the chief buyer in the Mountain States as Munroe sought an injunction to sign solo terms in Logan county court at Sterling in April.
