Philip Clayton the ranchman received a one year penitentiary sentence from Judge Grimes after a merick county case. Sidney School Board Sets Bond Election Date

The Sidney school board organized for 1907 electing Jas L McIntosh as moderator Leroy Martin as director and W J Shoemaker as treasurer. They approved a petition to issue 15000 in district bonds for more schoolroom and set July 21 1907 at 2 pm in the courthouse for the special election. A purchasing committee was appointed to handle all district supplies and orders must be written by the committee.

Wheat Harvest Underway in Nebraska Fields

The Lincoln Star reports Nebraska farmers have begun harvest using relay teams to shock wheat while weather improves yields. Wheat heads are long and well filled, with forecasts predicting a better than usual state yield if dry weather continues. Corn, by contrast, shows mixed results with weeds and cold spring affecting eastern fields though Hastings and Wood River valley regions report good to excellent conditions.

Regulation on sale and packaging of gasoline explosives

State law sections require gasoline benzine and similar high explosives to be sold only in vermillion red barrels casks or cans clearly labeled gasoline benzine or equivalent. Provisions forbid kerosene coal oil in such painted containers and mandate purchasers keep supplies in clearly marked packaging.
