Drivers Chalk Up Seven World Laps in Summer Program
In Sidney and at St. Patrick's Academy driver education students have logged enough miles to circle the globe seven times. The 140 students use two cars in a statewide summer program that cuts regular term driving time, with 4 hours per student this summer and 2 hours during the school year. Since 1949 the program has expanded to include summer sessions and St. Pat's, with about 2,600 students and 60 adults having driven the cars provided by local dealers. Instructors Carl Crouse and Hank Reitz report few incidents, only minor fender benders and a single student–responsibility accident.
