Huntley Cheers Herefords At Kilgore Field Day
NBC commentator Chet Huntley spoke at the Third Annual All American Junior Hereford Field Day on Adams Ranch north of Kilgore. More than 2300 attended the national event, with Jamie Vahrenkamp of Hay Springs winning top prize in the judging contest. Huntley called for a Federal Livestock Bank and praised Hereford breeders while noting beef consumption. Mrs. Huntley offered that the sandhills are “Gods Own Cow Country.” An appreciation plaque honored hosts Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Adams and Dean Pike of Ainsworth.
