City Eyes Public Backing for New Solicitation Ordinance
City Attorney L M Clinton spoke to the Chamber of Commerce about a new licensing and bonding ordinance for itinerant or non resident solicitors. The measure requires a $1 fee and aims to protect residents while allowing legitimate sales. Clerks will classify solicitors as permanent or temporary and enforcement hinges on public cooperation and proper card presentation. The ordinance covers residential areas and seeks to curb abuses without prohibiting legitimate activity.
