A long July Fourth diary records gatherings from Sterling to Crook and Haxtun. Residents shared meals, barbecues, picnics, fishing trips, and fireworks with relatives and neighbors including the Bonkiewicz, Dickinson, Glant, Weller, DeMers, Ring, Tilghman, and Bonkiewicz families. Visitors hailed from Aurora, Denver, Chicago, and Fort Collins, with travel to Omaha and Iowa noted. Multiple suppers, brunches, and a riding to see hail damage at local sites illustrate a bustling holiday.
