American Legion Presses Publication of Draft Desertion Lists
The American Legion notes that publishing glacker lists has justified veterans in pushing for public release. More than half of about 60 000 deserter names have appeared, with about 500 apprehended and 80 convicted. Legion members aided in tracking deserters as Weeks and Harris say the lists also clear records of compliant service members and those with exemption issues.
