It reports fallible weather logs, a windstorm damage, Fourth of July celebrations, and military postings around Fort Sidney with officers and graduates in transit.
A severe wind storm swept through Sidney and surrounding areas last Saturday afternoon. Chimneys and signs fell, a porch collapsed at Haskell's store, and a house west of Sidney was demolished, killing Mr. Peck who died after injuries suffered in the collapse. Several other buildings lost sheds and a barn was unroofed. Lightning struck several horses near Brownson, causing casualties, while telegraph poles were toppled. The storm produced high winds and rain, but no cyclone.
