Arrival of Delegations and Festivities for Natal Day

Grand Independence Celebration in Sidney Recap

Thousands gathered for a city parade and afternoon program featuring a long line of delegations, bands, speeches by Judge Carrigan and Benj. T Butler, and a display of games such as sack races and greased pig. Evening festivities included a ball at Lockwood House, fireworks, and a large brass band concert. The day also noted local mining progress at Lead City with the Davenport and Black Hills Milling Company ready to crush ore and a balloon sighting over Sidney.
