Nebraska Supports Wheat Market Development Project

Nebraska Wheat Commission chairman Ervain Friehe announced a $25,000 contract with Western Wheat Associates to fund market development work in Japan and Southeast Asia. The project, July 1 1966 to June 30 1967, aims to improve the movement of hard red winter wheat from Nebraska to West Coast ports for shipment to Japan. Gene Vickers will head the project as director of planning and special projects in WWA's Washington office, bringing decades of Asia market experience to increase Nebraska wheat flow to Japan. Japan is the top cash market for U S wheat and vital to Nebraska growers.
