Three Year Old Girl Bitten by Rattlesnake Near Peetz Home
According to information reaching here Thursday, the three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs John Pehringer of the Peetz district was bitten by a rattlesnake near her home Sunday. The child received immediate treatment and is reported to be getting along nicely. The girl was playing in the yard when bitten.

No Appeal Expected by State Board in Burlington Tax Case
Assistant State Tax Commissioner Harry W. Scott says the state board will likely not appeal the Federal Judge Woodrough decision in the Burlington railroad tax suits. An appeal would cost $25,000 for a record. The court orders Burlington to repay back taxes from 1922 to 1926 totaling $530,000 with 7 percent interest, excluding $30,000 costs. The state board valued Burlington at $137,000,000 in Nebraska for those years. Masters recommended two valuations. court set $109,000,000 for 1923 and 1924 and $110,000,000 for other years, about 75 percent of $103,000,000 per year.
