Whooper Up On 4th In Rain Bound Sidney

Local notes report heavy rains easing strain amid a busy week in Sidney. Mentions include residents from Potter and Kimball visiting, several rainbound trips, licenses issued for two marriages, and updates on illness and travel plans across the region.

The School Meeting In District No 1

The annual school meeting was held at the courthouse Monday at 2 oclock. Moderator McIntosh presided with Director Martin as secretary. Treasurer Shoemaker reported receipts and outstanding warrants. $9,964 43 in warrants issued last year. McIntosh and Fishman elected to the board for three years. Tax levy set at $8000.00. Nine months of school planned starting September first Tuesday.

Death of a Prominent Pioneer in Denver

Henry Neuman died Sunday in Denver after heart failure while sprinkling his lawn. A former wealthy cattleman, he had been ill for over a week but remained capable of his duties. He leaves a wife, two sons Henry and Ray, and daughter Mrs Buddie Pavlat. Neuman and B W Redington traveled to Denver after receiving the telegram.

Hutchinson and Youngman Tie The Knot In Toledo Iowa

Alfred L. Hutchinson of Toledo Iowa and Katherine L. Youngman are married. Hutchinson is remembered by friends made here last summer while employed by the Weathero Realty Co. who join in wishing them happiness.

Gulling the Public at Teut Performance Show

A large crowd attended the Teut performance of The American Girl last Saturday night and paid fifty cents for a ten cent show. The band was good and that was the best that could be said of the troupe which seems to be stretching its appeal for another engagement.

Western Nebraska Flood Deluges Streets For Nine Hours

Residents witnessed a sudden downpour that flooded streets across the arid district. Cars and wagons struggled as washouts closed rail lines and roads while travelers scrambled to reach shelter and staff attempted quick repairs.

Regal Fourth of July Celebration Planned at Sidney

Sidney and Western Nebraska prepare a major Fourth of July event with vaudeville on a 24 by 30 foot stage on Rose street opposite the Sidney Mercantile. Balloon ascents, foot races, horse and pony races, bucking broncho, and a large tent with roast beef and coffee all day. The Merry-go-Round will operate near the post office. Train 3802 will stop at Custom to aid attendees.

Doings on the Diamond in Mitchell and Sidney Games

Mitchell beats Bidney 2 to 1 Sunday with Gay Ferry on the mound. Monday B Esbon Cleaman dazzled four scoreless innings, then Sidney piled up three runs in the fifth and Stephenine allowed three more in the sixth. The visitors won 6 to 0 as Mitchell fans cheer a clean, spirited game. Sidney also beat Crawford twice and defeated Fs. Robinson’s soldier team. Cheyenne’s visitors won two of three here but were criticized for poor sportsmanship. A. Wittere visits from Cheyenne for the fourth. Oberfelder Clothing Co promotes spring lines.
