Sidney Gals Rise and Fall in Weekend Softball Action
The Sidney women's softball team lost 27 to 5 to Sterling on Friday with Nancy Bullard going 3 for 3. They then fell 26 to 25 at Kimball on Saturday, despite 5 for 7 by Norma Oaken and six runs scored. Thursday they beat Bushnell 15 to 8 at Potter, led by Norma Oaken and Nancy Bullard. Glenda Schilling struck out ten in five innings. Next game is Saturday at Potter at 7:45, with a home game Friday July 8 against Brush at 7:30.

Midgets And Juniors Split Two Games Before Kimball Visit
The Sidney Midgets and Juniors split a pair of games with Bayard and Scottsbluff, each team winning once. Tom Chryst took the Midget loss against Bayard while Bayard’s Alvaraz earned the win. John Scholl slugged a triple for Sidney in another win. The Midgets beat Scottsbluff 2-1 with Larry Lingwall pitching. The Juniors lost to Scottsbluff 10-4 as Don Zink allowed all 10 runs. They host Kimball tonight with Midgets at 5:30 and Juniors at 7:30, ahead of Alliance Tournament on July 3–4.

Drag Machine Set to BOLT 200 MPH at Bluffs Race
The Scotts Bluff Timing Association will host a $10,000 AA fuel drag race at Scotts Bluff Municipal Airport this Sunday. Owner-driver Alan Bockla of Denver, Colorado, will pilot the 392 cubic inch Chrysler powered dragster, a car that has reached 218.13 mph and holds Colorado land speed records. The car costs about $100 to run a quarter mile and about $60,000 to drive from Sidney to Denver.
