Six Cheyenne county schools including St. Patrick’s academy of Sidney will enter teams in the Cheyenne county tournament set for Lodge Pole on February 3 and 4. Pot ter, Sunol, Gurley, Dalton and Lodge Pole also participate. first round pits Potter against Dalton, followed by Gurley versus Sunol and Lodge Pole against St. Patrick’s in the nightcap.

Mrs. John H. Chapman of Los Angeles died Sunday three months after her husband, former First National Bank receiver here. The Chapmans were widely known locally and he had once shared a law practice with William Jennings Bryan.

Large potato shipment leaves Alliance by train
A near full train loaded with 69 car loads of potatoes departed Alliance yards for Lincoln and Kansas City with seed potatoes sent toward the south and table stock to the east. Over 100 car loads of certified seed stock have already shipped from Alliance to Texas Alabama Louisiana and Florida in recent days, with about 250 more cars expected. Spud shipments from North Platte valley were heavy as a warming trend spurred brisk loading from cellar stock near Alliance tracks.

Dalton Monday awards 10 county farmers in corn hog contests
Cheyenne county awards were presented Monday at Dalton during a corn hog meeting led by Paul Stewart and O O Waggoner. Prizes from Nebraska Crop Improvement association and Sidney merchants funded corn prizes. pig contest prizes came from Cheyenne County Lumber company of Sidney. S. B. Hopkins topped the state west district with 53.2 bushels per acre and received a gold medal and a $15 체크. Hopkins also won the Sidney Telegraph loving cup for the county contest, to be held by him until dethroned.

Pioneer State Merchants to Be Honored Next Month
Merchants who have done business in Nebraska for 25 years or more will be honored at the Federation of Nebraska Retailers annual convention in Lincoln next month. A list of 300 long-time merchants has been compiled, with William Friedell highlighted for 50 years in the trade. Friedell, who came from New York in 1879, started his own store in Dorchester in 1883 and has served on the village and school boards. He and fellow honorees will attend a luncheon on February 12.
