Carnegie Library Opens for Public in Sidney

The Carnegie Library Board held its first meeting in the new building Wednesday evening. Books and library property were transferred from the B M S club to the Carnegie Library Board, with Mrs Corbett named librarian. Hours are 2:30 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM daily except Sunday, free to Sidney residents. A public opening and program are planned soon.

Two men, conductor Cicero Allen and brakeman Otto B. Jones, were shot to death by an I W W on a westbound local near Dix six miles east of Kimball. Investigating detectives pursued a hobos pair. a rope ordeal ended with capture after a brutal struggle. Authorities from Sidney and Kimball organized an urgent inquiry. one suspect fled toward Potter before arrest.

Knights Of Columbus Council Founded In Sidney Gala Day

A Sunday ceremony instituted a new Knights of Columbus Council in Sidney with fifty initiates. About 150 visiting knights from Wyoming Colorado and Nebraska attended along with priests and Bishop James A. Duffy. A banquet followed at St Patrick’s Academy with speeches by Reverend Anton Link J W Guthrie James O Keefe and Judge George F Corcoran among others praising the order. The day closed after a Mass at St Patrick’s Church and a final address on Good Citizenship.
