Land values too high in Iowa during boom period
A government inquiry finds Iowa land sold at excessive prices from 1915 to 1920 with an average rise of 121 dollars per acre. Much of the increase, 63 dollars, occurred between March 1919 and March 1920 as farm product prices fell. With land yielding only 3 percent and loans at 6 percent or more, large margin buying is risky for average farmers.
