Sidney Seeks Fair Gas Tax Share From State
City officials led by City Manager Tom Coffey press for a change in gas tax distribution to base allocations on 1960 census totals rather than 1950 figures. Coffey said Sidney’s population and street mileage rose significantly, increasing costs, while current law grants 10 to 15 cents per person based on 1950 data.
